The Essex Business Excellence Awards are returning to the region for the 2017 edition where hundreds of guests, who include Essex’s brightest businesses, will congregate for an evening of celebration in honour of Essex’s thriving business community.
On Wednesday, November 29, the City Pavilion in Romford will play host to the awards which will feature a champagne reception, three-course dinner, entertainment, fundraising opportunities and of course, the highly anticipated award presentations.
Headlining the awards this year is the fourth biggest airport in the UK, London Stansted Airport, who are a significant part of Essex’s business community.
The airport is one of the country’s fastest-growing airports, serving more than 25 million passengers each year, flying them to 190 destinations across 40 countries.
While the airport currently flies to destinations across Europe and North Africa, impressively flying to more European destinations than any other UK airport, come April 2018 Stansted will also be spreading its wings and introducing flights to New York and Boston.
Speaking of their headline sponsorship, Stansted Airport’s head of external affairs, Chris Wiggan, emphasised how getting involved with these awards was very important to the airport.
He said: “We want to be part of the local business community and, as a big business in county, see it as our duty to help raise the profile of the Essex brand and its unique entrepreneurial spirit.
“As the biggest single site employer in the region employing over 12,000 people across 200 companies, we’re a key enabler of economic growth and productivity.
“We want to ensure that local businesses and SMEs benefits from our success and importantly we want to be able to provide the routes and destinations that help them connect and trade with the global market place.
“Stansted is a growing business serving millions of passengers every year.
“Over the next few years we have ambitious plans to serve 20 million more passengers by making full use of our single runway and investing in our terminal facilities, including a new £130 million arrivals terminal.
“These plans will help to deliver more flights to more places, create more jobs and attract further inward investment to Essex.
“We always strive to understand what the business community want from the airport in order to better our services.
“In a way, the awards provide the opportunity to listen to our customers. Meeting with local businesses and hearing about their successes will allow us to learn from them and gain feedback from anyone that has used our services.
“While we are a rapidly growing, large company we want to show the business community that we support fellow businesses with a passion for growth and these awards are a great way of broadening and showcase our CSR activities.”
Chris added: “We are thrilled to be involved with these awards in such a big way and are looking forward to meeting and connecting with new and exciting businesses on the night.”
